Between 14–16 April 2026, the Civil Aeronautical Authority of the Republic of Moldova hosted, in Chișinău, the meetings of the working group within the framework of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), dedicated to facilitating the transport of persons with reduced mobility: FAL-PRM-EXPERTS/7 and FAL-PRM-SG/77.

The organization of these meetings in Chișinău reconfirms the importance of international cooperation in promoting more accessible, more inclusive air transport, better adapted to the needs of all passengers. The working group meetings provide a valuable platform for professional dialogue and exchange of experience. In this context, participants addressed current and relevant topics in the field of air transport facilitation, including operational developments regarding assistance provided to PRM, recent ECAC activities, the update of ECAC Doc 30, as well as the revision of certain assessment tools used in monitoring the assistance provided to these passengers at airports and by air operators.

The CAA pays constant attention to the development of air transport facilitation and actively supports initiatives aimed at improving accessibility and travel conditions for persons with reduced mobility. Hosting this event reflects the openness of the Republic of Moldova to institutional cooperation, exchange of expertise, and continuous alignment with international standards and practices.

The Civil Aeronautical Authority (CAA) informs that, starting from April 8, 2026, changes have been made at the management level of the institution.

In this context, Mr. Evgheni Kostețki, Deputy Director of the CAA, has been promoted to the position of Director of the Civil Aeronautical Authority. At the same time, Mr. Andrei Cebanu will assume the position of Deputy Director, responsible for the operational segment.

Mr. Evgheni Kostețki has over 20 years of experience in the field of civil aviation, including 7 years within the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL). He has also accumulated 15 years of experience as a national coordinator for continuous monitoring activities in relations with the International Civil Aviation Organization and has served as co-secretary of the Republic of Moldova – European Union Joint Committee for the implementation of the Common Aviation Area Agreement.

The Civil Aeronautical Authority reaffirms its firm commitment to ensuring the continuity of strategic projects and to further strengthening the implementation of international standards in the field of flight safety and aviation security.

February 2026 confirms the upward trend in air transport.

More and more passengers are choosing to travel by air, and traffic continues to grow compared to the same period last year.

In February this year, 362,826 passengers traveled by air – 28.2% more than in February 2025.

Additionally, 2,788 aircraft operations were recorded, an increase of 22.6% compared to last year.

Where did passengers fly most often? Istanbul remains at the top, followed by Sharm El Sheikh, London, Milan, Bucharest, and Paris – destinations that recorded significant increases.
